While I was down in North Carolina, I had a job interview!!! Sort of a scary proposition as I haven't worked in 6 years, but I've been given an amazing opportunity. There is a company called First Command that advises people on what to do with their money, life insurance, etc. We are clients and our advisor made a call to the office in Fayetteville and got me the interview. The interview went amazingly and I have the option of becoming a financial advisor. I would do 12 weeks of training with no pay and then after that 12 weeks and becoming licensed, I would be able to start seeing clients. I would be on a salary with the potential of getting bonuses for the first 2 years and after that I will become an independent advisor.
I have gone back and forth about what to do. I am afraid of failing and not being able to build up a client base. I am also fearful of what to do with Jaydn. It's been so nice to be able to come and go as I please for the past 6 years, but this past 6 months since she's been in school have been BORING. I want to be able to do something for me and feel like I'm being a productive member of society. SO after much discussion with Robby and contemplating what to do, I think I'm going to make the leap and take this opportunity. If it doesn't work out, I haven't really lost anything! I might feel like an idiot, but I will go on with my life and find something else to do. If it works, great. The first year is probably going to be pretty tough with learning new information and trying to build a client base, but with the support of Robby and Jaydn, I think I can do it.
Hopefully I'll be able to get some time off so I can come visit with Robby and Jaydn this fall!!!
I will keep you all posted on my progress!
