So for the past week or so, I have had a hard time getting Jaydn to sleep in her room. The first night she fought me for 3 hours. To which I locked myself in my room and figured she could do whatever. If she was tired in the morning, not my problem. At about 1030 that night I heard her lightly tapping on my door. I got up and her and Billy were laying in the bathroom. I think she knew I was mad enough that she finally went to bed. The next night she started to throw a fit. I told her the only other option was to sleep in the garage, since telling her to sleep in the bathroom hadn't worked. She didn't fight me for 2 nights...until last night.
She went to bed just fine. About 10 minutes later I hear Billy come down the stairs with Jaydn fast behind him. She was crying saying she was scared. I went up and talked to her to find out what she is scared of, to see if I can fix this issue. She is scared of bad guys and shadows. I guess she thinks that the bad guys are going to come into the house, even after much debate about whether myself or Billy would ever let that happen. The shadows, I think, come for the damn movie Princess and the Frog. I explained to her what shadows are but it didn't work. I told her that she could either sleep in here or the garage. She then asked if she could sleep with the light on and play for a few minutes. At this point, I didn't care, as long as it got her to bed.
Fifteen minutes later I decide to go and check on her. Her light was off and door closed but so was the bathroom door. I opened her door and she wasn't in there...I opened the bathroom door and her and Billy are fast asleep on the floor. I had to laugh but at the same time it's so frustrating.
How do I make her feel safe enough to be able to sleep in her room instead of the bathroom. I thought about letting her come into my room but that is a habit I DO NOT want to start. I'm sort of at a loss at this point. I guess we will see what tonight brings and hope that she will sleep in her own room again. She slept all night in the bathroom. I tried moving her but she refused.
