Who would have thought that on January 30th that the outside temperature would be 72! With the weather being so nice, we decided to take Jaydn to the park. We had a blast and got some great pics in the process.

Party like a rock star
Reality
Jaydn had her first dose of reality and death. She wants Billy to sleep in her room, but we will not let him (too many toys for him to chew on) so we told her she could have a fish instead. She was sad that she didn't have a friend to stay in her room with her. So last Friday I took her to Wal-mart(my first mistake) to pick out her very own beta. She picked a pretty purple one that she named Dorothy(even though it was a boy). We got her bowl ready and put it in Jaydn's room. However, on Sunday night I discovered that it was floating at the bottom. Robby and I, being the clever parents we are, thought that we could find another one that looked the same and just switch them out. That task proved to be difficult and we were not able to find one that matched. When we picked Jaydn up from the babysitter and got her home, we told her that her fish had died. She stood in the kitchen with her head down not speaking. I told her it was ok to be sad and asked if she wanted to see her fish before daddy got rid of it. She wouldn't talk and was clearly upset, but too 'proud' to cry. Finally, after about 10 minutes she spoke and said she wasn't upset and wanted to see her new fish.
The new fish has last much longer than the other one and it's name is Cinderelli. Everyday that it hasn't died she informs me, "it's not dead yet" and when it does die she wants to use it as bait at the lake(she has to be Robby's child)!

Milestones!
So I've been looking at Kasey's blog and missing the new things that kids discover. And I realize that Jaydn doesn't do 'new' things anymore and there's not much to get excited about these days. Or maybe it's just that they are few and far between. But much to my surprise something new took place a couple of weeks ago.
I was just getting off the phone with Robby when Jaydn said "mommy, mommy, look what I did." Of course I didn't pay attention until I was off of the phone and to my excitement, Jaydn had written her name. I felt that same feeling I had when she rolled over for the first time or took her first step! I looked at it and realized that she had spelled her name wrong so I told her, "honey you forgot the d" and her response was, " but mommy, I don't know how to make a D". So we have worked on our D's and she can now write her name. It's not always neat or on the same line, but she can do it!
That same weekend we had another first. On Friday when we got home from running errands, I checked my email to see that Jaydn had been invited to her first sleep-over. I called the mom to get specifics and she asked if Jaydn could come. I wasn't sure how it was going to go, but asked Jaydn if she wanted to go to Alexa's and she got extremely excited. I got everything ready and an hour later the mom was here. I walked her outside and felt sad to see her leaving without me. I've left her with family before, but never has she left the house and I stayed here. It made me sad. But she had a blast and came home exhausted! And for the first time since she was born, we slept alone in the house.
It's amazing how quickly they grow up. I miss the days of new discoveries, but I also know that Jaydn will discover new things they just won't be as often as with a newborn.

Rock-a-bye BEAR?

Jaydn got her bear our tonight, which she hasn't done in forever, and started playing with him. I wasn't paying attention, as usual, but when I looked up I saw that she was rocking him. She was looking down at him, just rocking. She then wanted him to be wrapped up and have me rock him. She is going to be such a good mommy some day. She already likes to boss people around!
Before and After
Never did I want or think I would have a dog that would require such maintance, however, he is now a part of the family. He looks so much better now and smells better too. Who knew a dog could stink so stinkin' much...even Jaydn couldn't stop sniffin' him.

MASTERS?
Ringing in 2009
Wow...2008 if finally gone, woohoo! I am looking forward to seeing what 2009 has in store for us. Robby and I are definitely getting older, instead of going out for New Year's we went to a friends to have pizza and play poker...no more partying days for us. We had a blast though. I lost my butt at poker. Jaydn had been sick all week, finally took her to the doctor and she has pneumonia..yuck, so she wasn't much in a mood to be out. And unlike her mommy and daddy, she only likes to sleep in her bed. However, Sandra has the magic and was able to rock Jaydn until she gave up and fell asleep. There are few people in Jaydn's world that have that power...good job Sandra! And just like her mommy, Jaydn sleeps with her eyes partially open, Robby finds it to be creepy :).
